Health triage quality assurance

Emergency wards require critical decision making in ensuring that patients receive the right care at the right time. A local health authority approached us to build a system that could assess historical triage of patients by allowing medical assessors re-asses triage data based on the patient data based (symptoms, age and other variables) and compare their results to the actual diagnosis to identify potential misdiagnosis or patterns of miss categorisation.

We developed an administrative private cloud platform to import, process and de-identify patient case data and provide back to medical assessors as sample assessments which they could assess in such a manner that they were not biased by who performed the initial assessment and/or the patient particulars. The platform was combined with a hybrid mobile app for use on tablets to allow medical assessors the freedom to perform assessments within the emergency wards, and/or in controlled environments.

The solution has been highly successful and has been cited in a medical journal paper.
