Pathology lab assessment

The pathology department of a prestigious university in Australia approached us to build a centrally controlled lab based assessment system that students could utilise during practical examinations. The system needed to handle student verification, scheduling, real-time serving of questions and synchronisation of assessments across multiple physical locations, this included setting time limits per question.

We chose a solution design built around an iPad’s mobility and processing capability using native app development in Swift. This allowed for 100s of iPads to be used by students whilst the iPad application would synch assessments in realtime with a centralised control platform that allowed for real time monitoring of student progress.

Each question of an assessment was time based and the system ensured that all students irrespective of location answered at the same time.
