SaaS license platform

A large financial institution approached us to build a solution to enable them to distribute software licenses for a range of software products they offered to their business clients. They needed the ability to handle perpetual vs re-occurring licensing, per-user licensing vs server based and the ability to charge based on transactional volume vs per user use.

The solution design we came up with took into account a range of different technologies, from cloud solutions to standalone desktop apps. At the core of the solution was a public REST API with wrapper add-on libraries in multiple software languages.

It was also essential to ensure that licensing would work irrespective of whether a network was available to the licensing platform, so we encoded time-based into software keys distributed to clients.

The SaaS platform allowed our client to manage and distribute their software with wrapper add-on libraries so that their IT software teams could it incorporate into their offerings.
